Loving the Chase by Sharla Lovelace ~*Review*~

Charming, adventurous Zach Chase has always craved the spotlight, and now he’s on the hunt for publicity for his family’s storm-chasing business. So when a reality TV network approaches him with the idea for a show profiling their work, he can’t resist. The last person he expects to walk into the meeting, however, is the former love of his life.

Production assistant Maddi Hayes was once engaged to Zach—until she was almost killed by a tornado Zach was out chasing. She walked away from her fiancé and their future together, convinced she’d always come second to Zach’s dangerous career.

Dreading the show and anxious over working so closely with Zach, Maddi also knows this project could mean big things for her career. If only Zach wasn’t still so infuriating . . . and so infuriatingly sexy. Can they finally let go of their stormy past? Or will the passion still raging between them win in the end?

My Review:

Cracking open a book of a new-to-me author is always kind of exhilerating. It’s the anticipation that a novel can either be one that’s memorable, or easily forgotten. I had the pleasure of participating in a Facebook event and won a signed ARC of Loving The Chase from Sharla. It’s been sitting on my shelf for some time because writing, editing, and family stuff have gotten in the way.

The other day I finally delved into the pages–and was enraptured from the very first line. Oh. My. God. This book is indescribable. Maybe it’s because I’ve never read a novel about storm chasing before, but everything in this novel had me excited.

First there is Maddi. I like her a lot, because she’s kinda goofy. She tries to pull off the professional, hardcore woman but on the inside she’s just the small-town, wild girl. Seven years ago she left her hometown of Cody, Texas–and her fiancee Zach Chase. There is a whole story there, but I’ll leave that up to you to read 😉 What a surprise it is for her to find out her boss wants to shoot a reality show featuring Zach’s family.

Zach was devastated when Maddi left, so hearing his thoughts and feeling his emotions was really heartbreaking. And boy did that happen a lot. Sharla did an amazing job of capturing the emotions of her characters. She left me reeling and grasping at every page, wanting to feel every heartbreak, every sexy moment.

That’s another thing I loved about this book. There is anticipation, desire, hot & sexiness, adventure…and it’s not page after page of sex. Sharla was able to keep me entranced with every scene of her book without overloading her reader in sex scenes. The descriptions of the storms only enhanced every moment between the characters. I’m just going to leave this right here:

You can only guess what that is for. Or…you can do what I suggest and go pick up a book right now. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

I’m so happy to claim that Loving the Chase was one of the memorable ones, and one that I will flaunt on my bookshelf for all to see.
