About the Author:
Contemporary Romance Author of sensual, sizzling
, emotional romances where two lost souls find each other and discover home. Born in the Netherlands, Christine moved to Canada where she spent her formative years. Then she married her Texan Alpha Physicist, moved to the United States and she has lived both south and north of the Mason Dixon line. Now Christine resides in Alabama with her husband, two insane cats and her wonderful daughter. She enjoys finding the silly in the serious, making wine out of sour grapes, and giving people giggle fits along with heartfelt hugs. When she’s not writing, you can find her traveling the world, cooking gourmet food, and desperately seeking a corkscrew.
I had this really good feeling starting this novella, which is pretty uncommon. I’ve seen teasers from her other novels, participated in events that she’s been in, but have yet to actually read any of them. When I got my hands on this novella, I was hesitant only because it was a novella. I didn’t doubt her writing.
I’m not usually a novella kinda person. They’re too short and you have to really be able to capture emotions, tension, and keep the timeline moving at a steady pace. I mean, of course you have to pull that off in any novel but with a novella it’s especially difficult. Writing a whole love story in such a short amount of words can be very limiting.
But I was not disappointed with The Movie Star’s Red Hot Fling. Phew. That’s a whopper of a title lol.
Jessie’s character to me was very real. She is an ex-marine with a tragic backstory, and who doesn’t love those? So having Blake, a seemingly easygoing movie star who actually takes things very seriously, suddenly come in to step on her toes and start bossing her around in the gym, really didn’t sit too well with her. When she realizes that Blake isn’t the man she imagined, things start changing in her world…and his.
Christine did an excellent job capturing the pain behind a Wounded Warrior. For such a short novella, it really had tons of tension and emotion coursing through every single page I turned. This novel sheds light on the pain at the surface and underneath for an injured Veteran, and how it can be healed with a little help and love.
I loved this novella and really recommend it to anyone looking for a quick yet impacting read.
