My Review:

For the longest time I have avoided these books, but I couldn’t do it anymore. Everyone was always raving about Kellen Kyle, and when my favorite author uses him as a brief character in her books…I just couldn’t hold back anymore. Why would I avoid the books? Because I’m a review reader. And a lot of the reviews mentioned about how the first book is entirely about Kiera cheating on her current boyfriend with Kellen.

I read the first one and had a really deep love/hate relationship with it. As you can see from my previous post, I have a kinda thing against rationalizing cheating. So reading an entire book about a girl that can’t make up her mind really irritated me. In her defense, both guys were pretty incredible in their own ways.

But as I moved on into Effortless and Reckless, I loved Kiera and Kellen. Specifically Kellen. I now understand the craze over him. He’s got such a beautiful heart, and he’s not the typical broody hero. He’s hilarious, a flirt, and hot as hell. While K. Bromberg’s Colton has a very special place in my heart…I really think that Kellen is pushing against that wall with his good old buddy Hawkin (Sweet Ache, K. Bromberg).

There were some things that bugged me, but were also things I could somewhat overlook. There are large chunks of writing that will drag on. Places that could have had dialogue to make it more interesting but didn’t. These are all things that I can’t hold against the author because it’s personal preference.

S.C. Stephens brought these characters to life, making me love and hate them simultaneously. She dragged me along their adventures from amateur rockstar to rock idol in three books. Sexy, hilarious, heart-wrenching, and orgasmic are all words that come to mind with these three books. I’m stuck now, and see myself adding many more of S.C. Stephen’s books to my TBR list. So happy to be meeting her in October at a signing!Signature

Forever Bound by Deanna Roy

Jenny is a girlfriend-for-hire, the platonic kind.

While under contract with her movie director boyfriend, glamour has ruled. Designer gowns. Red-carpet premieres. And, of course, seeing her face in the tabloids.

She loves tabloids.

But her reign has come to an end. Her sugar daddy has fallen in love — with someone else. Her contract is over and tonight she has to end it publicly by making sure the paparazzi “catches” her with another man.

She just has to find the man.

Chance has been hitchhiking across the US, playing and singing for tips. This is the life he’s always imagined, and the farther he gets from his disastrous family in Tennessee, the better he feels.

An unexpected invitation to sing with an indie blues group at a movie premiere party gives him a sweet taste of fame. As a bonus, a beautiful girl with pink dreadlocks only has eyes for him.

But the collision between Jenny and Chance is more emotional and intense than either of them expected. When the scandal hits the news, Chance’s family finds him, pushing him to come home and face his demons.

The night has even more consequences for Jenny. She needs to find Chance, but nobody knows anything about him, not even his last name.

Her journey takes her across the country and into the disaster Chance is running from. But she can’t give up on him, because what neither of them realized is that sometimes a single night can be the beginning of forever. It is a standalone HEA that does not require reading any other parts of the Forever series.

The guy I’d been watching walked over to the mike and said, “Hello, I’m Chance, and Paul here has kindly invited this Tennessee boy up to do a number.”

His name was Chance.

“Yeah!” Paul bellowed. He lifted his guitar strap over his head and handed it to Chance.

I made it to the base of the stage, where the crowd had left a gap in its disinterest. I wondered if my boy choice was going to get their attention, or if he would be terrible.

I was rooting for him.

The band crashed into the opening licks, and when Chance started singing, I wanted to laugh out loud with giddiness. His voice was pure magic, deep and edgy.

He moved across stage like a fury, all energy and muscle. I was so close I could feel the wood floor shifting under his feet. His fingers squeezed the guitar in a steady grip. I was mesmerized by every movement. I could already see how his skilled hands would work on me.

I was hooked.

The song rollicked along for another chorus, then Chance brought them to a strong stop with a motion of his hand.

That’s when he saw me.

He froze a second, as if he couldn’t believe I was so close after he’d searched for me for so long. His smile spread to a wide grin. I’m sure my panties would have gone flying, if I’d been wearing any.

Review of Sweet Ache by K. Bromberg

Sweet AcheSynopsis:

The New York Times bestselling author of Slow Burn turns up the heat when a sexy bet turns into so much more…

Hawkin Play, the bad boy rock star with a good guy heart, has lived a lifetime of cleaning up after his twin brother’s mistakes. Hunter’s most recent screw-up could land Hawke in jail and risk the band’s future. Hawke agrees to guest lecture at a local college to stay in the judge’s good graces—and a bet with his bandmate to seduce his sexy teaching assistant is icing on the cake.

Quinlan Westin is harder to bed than Hawke imagined. She knows his type and is determined to avoid the rocker at all costs—even if their attraction runs deeper than simple lust.

Just as Hawke might finally be winning over the girl, his brother has other plans. When Hunter realizes his twin finally has a weakness, he’ll stop at nothing to take advantage…

About The Author:

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling K. Bromberg is that reserved woman sitting in the corner who has you all fooled about the wild child inside of her—the one she lets out every time her fingertips touch the computer keyboard.

K. lives in Southern California with her husband and three children. When she needs a break from the daily chaos of her life, you can most likely find her on the treadmill or with Kindle in hand, devouring the pages of a good, saucy book.

On a whim, K. Bromberg decided to try her hand at this writing thing. Her debut novels, Driven, Fueled, and Crashed of The Driven Trilogy were well received and went on to become multi-platform bestsellers as well as landing on the New York Times and USA Today lists. Her other works include a short story, UnRaveled, and a companion piece to The Driven Trilogy titled Raced. She is currently working on three stand alone Driven novels, Slow Burn, Sweet Ache, and Hard Beat. She also plans to release a novel addressing the 10 year gap at the ending of Crashed in late fall 2015.

My Review: Four Hearts rating

How can I not give Kristy full stars for yet another masterpiece? This woman deserves an award for the amount of quality novels she has pumped out of her deliciously erotic mind within the last two years.

Bromberg has this way of creating characters with such emotional trauma that it takes the reader on a ride of self-healing. She creates ugly cries from words on paper, and that is a skill not many have mastered.

Sweet Ache is no exception. It is a novel that delves into a world that we can only dream of, containing a sinfully hot rocker and a girl with the backbone to handle him.  Between the comedy, the sexual tension, and the constant fluctuation of emotions; I was stuck on a tumultuous roller-coaster that had me simultaneously begging for more and begging for it to stop.

Hawkin is a man just begging for love, but not believing he deserves it. I loved his Alpha character and the way that he kept his loyalty to the people he loved, even when they did everything possible to hurt him.  When he is forced to lecture at a college, he doesn’t even expect the way that his life would be turned upside down by a fiery little blonde.

Quinlan is the sister of Colton (if you don’t know who he is you need to check out Driven here, because Colton is a necessity in any woman’s life), and the daughter of the famous Andy Westin. Having that kind of background leaves her with little appreciation for famous men, especially the ones in the playboy variety. Yet something about Hawkin sucks her in.

While this seems like a basic fairy-tale romance, you must know that Bromberg does not provide you with a fairy-tale. Everything in her stories provides a reader with an intense bout of emotions until you don’t know whether your crying or laughing, or sometimes both at the same time.

So props to another spectacular release, Kristy. I can’t wait to experience more of the worlds within that miracle brain of yours 😉

To say that I am excited about this book is an understatement. Anyone who knows me, knows that I absolutely adore all of K. Bromberg’s novels. While this is somewhat related to her popular Driven Series, it does not need to be read with it. This is a complete standalone novel, and one that definitely needs to be read.
