Synopsis:

A Different Christmas

Two people. Two upbringings. One Christmas.

Sam was brought up to her happy family gathering at Christmas. Filled with many traditions that as an adult she thought were normal for everyone.

Getting ready to finish work for the holidays to go home to her family in Scotland, was her idea of fun and relaxation. Well, that was until her boss, Luke, told her he was dragging her to New York for work.
Much to Sam’s irritation, she has to go along and attend New York before flying home on Christmas Eve.

Luke grew up with parents that had a multimillionaire company and wanted for nothing. Apart from a family to celebrate Christmas with.

Luke grew up thinking he had what everyone had at Christmas, until he grew up and realized that Christmas is a family occasion.

Two characters that clash at the slightest thing is a recipe for disaster. Throw Sam and Luke into New York and it is either a make or break for their working relationship.

Would Christmas be different after this year?

my-review

It was interesting to read a Christmas focused novel during Halloween, but it didn’t make it weird. In fact, A Different Christmas was a nice book! The only way I can think to describe this book is “sweet”.  Sam and Luke  know each other before the book even begins. Sam is Luke’s assistant, and absolutely despises her boss. She basically thinks he’s an insensitive asshole.

You can imagine her joy when she finds out that she has to spend a few days in New York with him before she can go home for Christmas.

The two of them are adorable as they discover more about each other and start to fall in love. It isn’t an easy process, especially for the slow Sam.

I wouldn’t consider this book “erotic, or “steamy” for that matter, but it was still a very heart-warming and beautiful read.

Dirty Like Me is a first for me from this author. She very nicely asked if I’d be interested in reviewing her novel, but in no way does that interfere with my opinion of this book.
I’m not going to lie, I went into this book with low expectations. Rock star meets average girl, who gets steamy right from the start….didn’t seem like there was much substance. It seemed average–not unique in the slightest.
Boy was I surprised!
Jaine Diamond created some amazing characters full of humor and enough substantial backstory to make them relatable and loving. I loved that Katie was pushing to be rebellious and ended up ensnared by the gorgeous, hunky Jesse Mayes.
And Jesse….*pant*
This book is full of sexy scenes, romance that makes you smile stupidly, and humor that had me laughing out loud on several occasions.
Definitely recommend it!

EXCERPT

He pulls me in again and presses a soft kiss to my lips. For a beat I’m stunned, and then I begin to understand. It isn’t a romantic kiss—it’s a goodbye.

It rings in a new dawn, one where Harley isn’t the center of my Earth and I’m not the center of his, and just like that, I’m lost. I’m no longer tethered to this man. I’m no longer his future—I’m his past, and he’s mine. But that’s all we are. Ex-lovers. Friends? Maybe one day, but for now are just two people who’ve clung to one another for so long we forgot we weren’t the only two to exist. We forgot we weren’t a whole, but two separate pieces.

It will kill me, but I have to let go of Harley Hamilton, because he’s already let go of me. And there is nothing sadder than a woman clinging to a ghost.

I literally can’t think of how to describe this book.

Harley and Rose gutted me.

This book is rollercoaster of love, heartbreak, friendship, and steamy sex.

I literally couldn’t put it down for the longest time because I had to know what was next.

Books like this need to come with a warning label:

Will break  your heart but leave you crying for more.

Harley was perfectly flawed.

Rose was beautifully loyal.

And the two of them together destroyed me.

That’s all I’m going to say.

Read this damn book.

Guest Post by Katriena Knights–Vote for Call Me Zhenya!

Welcome Katriena Knights as she shares a little about her latest book,.

My latest book, Call Me Zhenya, started out as a reaction to a scene from one of my favorite TV shows, Angel. There’s a scene where Wesley Wyndham-Pryce breaks Faith out of prison so she can go do her vampire-slaying thang. She was in prison voluntarily, atoning for her sins, but they needed her, so she took a fancy dive through a glass window and high-tailed it out with Wes.

That scene got me thinking. What if a spy were in prison voluntarily, taking a hit for something that happened in an operation that wasn’t her fault? That evolved into having her there for protective custody. Then another spy comes to let her out. And what if that spy were the man who betrayed her? Or the man who killed her lover?

From that seed grew Anna Slaten, a covert operative with a reconfigured brain designed to store massive quantities of information. However, something inside that brain is worth killing her for—and even she doesn’t know what it is.

She’s placed in protective custody in Alaska not to protect her, per se, but to protect this sensitive data. They told her six months, max—she’s been there two years.

Evgeni Belyakov is another reconfigured covert operative. In his case, he’s been designed to transform into a deadly black wolf to perform anonymous assassinations. One of his assassinations has haunted him, though—and led him to follow up on Anna’s incarceration.

They’re planning to kill her, he discovers, and begins a race against time to extract her from prison before the Agency—the deep-cover organization they both work for—executes her. Escaping across the Arctic tundra together, they find themselves depending more and more upon each other. Evgeni knows his own secrets could destroy any trust Anna might have in him. Romantic entanglement is out of the question. But Evgeni’s wolf has other ideas.

Below is an excerpt from early in the novel, where Evgeni shows Anna how to control his potentially dangerous wolf form. If you enjoy the excerpt, I hope you’ll stop by to vote for my Kindle Scout campaign. If the book is chosen for publication, you’ll automatically get a free copy! And if you want to keep up to date with my books, giveaways, and other goodies, please join my newsletter. You’ll get a sneak peek at the first chapter of Call Me Zhenya right away.

On to the excerpt!

————————————————————————
“First I’ll answer your question about waking me, but not waking the wolf.”

She nodded. It was important she knew this. “All right.”

Evgeni slid the backpack to the ground. It landed silently, and his steps were equally silent when he closed the distance between them. “First,” he said, “you touch me like this.”

His hand rose, and for a split second she thought she’d misjudged him, that she’d followed him out here to the Alaskan bush just so he could kill her where no one would ever find her body. His hand closed around the side of her neck, resting partially on her shoulder, his thumb pressing against her Adam’s apple. She flinched; she couldn’t help it. The movement hadn’t been sudden or violent, and nothing about his touch hurt her, but every cell in her body was suddenly, acutely aware that he could break her neck or crush her windpipe with a single shift of that enormous hand. Was he really answering her question, or was he making a point?

Then his eyes softened again, and the grip shifted. The thumb on her windpipe didn’t relax, because it had never been taut to begin with, but it moved, stroking her skin. And that brought a whole new onslaught of sensation.

“It’s important to touch me here,” he told her and tapped her windpipe lightly. “It doesn’t have to be hard or rough—in fact it’s better if it isn’t. But your thumb here, your fingers behind my ear.”

“What if…” She struggled to regain her composure. “What if your back is to me?”

“Turn around and I’ll show you.” He released her and made a twirling motion with one finger. The size and weight of his hand still lay imprinted on her throat.

Hesitant, she turned her back to him.

The touch came promptly, but she was ready for it this time. He laid his fingers along the line of her windpipe, his thumb pressing against the base of her skull. Still gentle, careful, yet still a placement he could use to kill her if he chose.

“You hold me and speak to me,” he said, and she could feel his warm breath against her ear. “You do not call me Evgeni. You say Zhenya.”

It was a diminutive, she knew, like calling him Sasha if his name were Alexander, or like calling her Annie. “Zhenya,” she repeated.

“Yes.” His hand came free, and she turned back around to face him. “You do it. Show me you understand.”

She stared up at him. She wasn’t sure she could even reach his neck, much less get her hand into the right position. Okay, maybe that was an exaggeration, but he was definitely tall enough to make it awkward.

As if reading her dilemma on her face, he dropped to his knees, a smile working his mouth. “Try now.”

God, this was weird. But necessary. He wasn’t playing games with her. In a very real way, he was showing her how to control him. And he didn’t have to do that.

She laid her hand along his neck and shoulder, mimicking the position he’d used on her. Her thumb lay against the hard knob of his Adam’s apple, which was roughened with overnight stubble. So was his cheek, where her index finger brushed it. Her small hand seemed ludicrously inadequate for the task she’d assigned it.

His Adam’s apple bobbed, then vibrated beneath her hand. “If you were a mama wolf,” he told her, “you would take me by my neck and put me where you wanted me. And if you were an alpha, you would take me by my neck and show me I was not the alpha. So this shows control but also protection. If the wolf is waiting there right under the skin, this will make it understand you are a friend.”

Anna nodded, letting her hand drop. Since he was kneeling, she walked around to stand behind him rather than asking him to turn. From behind, she laid her hand again on his neck, thumb against the base of his skull, fingers along the line of his windpipe. “Like this?”

“Yes. Now say my name.”

“Zhenya,” she said obligingly. “Zhenya, wake up and don’t try to eat my face.”

He chuckled. “There, you see? It’s easy enough.”

EXCERPT

“You don’t know anything about me.” My voice is slight but strong, my need to assert myself front and center despite his calling me on the carpet.

“That’s where you’re wrong, Socks. I might not know where you’re from or why I ruffled your feathers today, but I know you’re stronger than you give yourself credit for. Whatever it is that you ran from back home, you did it. You got out and are making it on your own. That takes guts and you deserve mad props for that. I know you like things messy and are goddamn cute when you’re tipsy. I know you’re stubborn as hell and gorgeous as fuck. And that your kiss tastes like an aged whiskey: something I want to sip slowly, feel on my lips, savor on my tongue, and take my time with before I get drunk on it.” With a lift of his eyebrows and a nod of his head, he walks past me, leaving me with my mouth agape and eyes wide.

I can’t move. Just stand staring at the door in front of me as I try to process what he just said, what he meant by it, and yet there’s no use because we just had a whole one-sided conversation and that need to banter with him is gone. Lost to the tingling in my lower belly and the wild spinning of my thoughts.

“Oh, and, Getty?” Zander calls out to me from the kitchen, refusing to continue until I turn to face him, standing there unabashedly shirtless. “If you ever call me pretty again, we’re gonna have a real problem. I guarantee you there is nothing pretty about me.”

I almost smile at the fact that out of all of the crappy things I said to him, that is the one that bugged him the most.

“You are kind of pretty, though,” I murmur, unable to resist goading him further, needing to try to get us back on an even playing field. Because hell if right now I don’t feel like I’m on the low end of the teeter-totter.

His immediate response? A snort to signify that his chiseled abs and the tall, dark, and handsome thing he’s got going on are nothing more than average.

“Last warning, Socks.” His eyes flash with mirth. And what looks like desire.

An unexpected part of me—the one who usually hides and doesn’t ever take a chance—wants to say it again. Just to see what he’d do if I did.

“So damn pretty.” I don’t know who’s more shocked at my comment, him or me, but we stand there for a moment, gazes locked, unspoken words warring across the distance between us.

He walks toward me with a predatory gleam in his eyes and a salacious smirk on his lips that catches me off guard. “I know I said you were brave, Getty, but now you’re just playing with matches.”

I draw in a long inhale as he steps right in front of me. I can’t look at him. My nerve is suddenly gone. Outside, rain pelts the roof. The constant drip into the bucket in the hallway serves as a metronome to this anticipatory silence we are dancing in. The goose bumps on his chest are the only thing I can focus on.

When his thumb and forefinger direct my chin up so I’m forced to meet his eyes, every part of me hums from his touch. From the want of something I don’t quite understand myself and couldn’t ever put into words. Our eyes meet—his intense, mine searching for answers that aren’t his to give—before his gaze flicks down to my mouth and then back up again.

“Not yet, Getty.” He closes his eyes for a beat, and I see what I think is restraint reflected in his grimace, before a ghost of a smile spreads on his lips. “I don’t think you’re ready to light this fire just yet.”

My Review:

I have been following K. Bromberg for a couple of years now. It’s so hard to believe that it all started with Colton and Rylee. This couple set off a whole world that Kristy has built up, tore down, then revived all over again.

Zander holds a special spot in my heart. He was such a crucial character in the original trilogy with Colton and Rylee, and I know that Bromberg’s fans have been begging for a Zander story forever.

Kristy has never disappointed me.

This book was mostly set away from the racing theme, even though Zander races just like his dad. Instead it was set in a small beach town–a getaway spot that gave him the ability to run from his demons.

Unfortunately, he didn’t expect to meet Getty.

The couple worked so perfectly together that it killed me. Kristy has this way of wrapping you up into every single one of her characters and wanting to know them. You want to sit at a bar and laugh with them. You want to see Getty wear mismatching knee-high socks, and have Zander wrapped around her kissing her forehead. She gets you lost in the world, in their emotions, in their lives to the point where your heart aches along with them.

Sexy and hot don’t even begin to define this book. Heartbreaking. Heartwarming. Bittersweet. Beautiful. Loving. Chill-worthy. Panty-melting. The list goes on.

Kristy is a genius at writing a book that makes you want to keep reading until dawn.

Never stop writing Kristy. I’m not sure I could take it.

my-review

Oh man. This book. Where do I even start?

This book is painfully beautiful. It’s definitely bittersweet. You feel so much for Daniella, who goes through an awful tragedy within the first couple of pages.  Dani is barely hanging on to her life as it is, and then something unexpected happens that turns her whole world upside down.

Until Garrett comes back into town.

They were great friends in high school until Garrett moved away, but he always wanted to be something more. His love for her, and understanding of her emotions, brings Dani back to life in a way that she didn’t think possible.

I flipping LOVED Garrett. He was so beautiful, and honest (to a point), and freaking amazing. I swear I sighed every time that man opened his mouth to speak to Dani. His patience as she mourns, and then giving her exactly what she needed made me fall deeply in love with his character.

This book may have triggers for people. It addresses some different forms of depression in an honest and painful way. It really pushed on my heart because everyone who has ever experienced depression realizes that it’s one of the toughest things to break out of.

I loved Garrett and Dani’s story, and I think other readers can really appreciate the beauty that blossoms from Dani’s suffering.

My Review.jpg

Paranormal romance is my jam. There’s something about a sexy ass Alpha that gets my blood boiling, so of course I had to dive into Alana Sapphire’s new PNR.

There was something truly captivating about this book. Ethan’s dominant yet gentle way of handling Casey was perfect. He was overbearing, but also very sweet. Casey wasn’t necessarily a weak female in the story…in fact she kind of kicked ass, but not in a way that was annoying.

Alana created a perfect balance between sexy and sweet.

I loved, loved, loved Ethan. He was definitely a top guy for me and has gone up there with some of my top tasty book boyfriends.

Alana nailed her sex scenes…pardon the pun. There were a lot of them, but each one was delish.

I definitely recommend to those who want a super sexy, panty-melting paranormal romance with an Alpha that will have you “clawing” at your pages.

About the Author:14798264

Hello! My name is Fiona Davenport and I’m a smutoholic. I’ve been reading raunchy romance novels since… well, forever and a day ago it seems. And now I get to write sexy stories and share them with others who are like me and enjoy their books on the steamier side. Fiona Davenport is my super-secret alias, which is kind of awesome since I’ve always wanted one.

My Review

Holy. Freaking. Hotness.

o-face

Let me make one point absolutely clear about these books. They aren’t your normal, long, drawn-out romances. It’s a box set of three, short novellas. It’s one of those stories that run head-first into kissing, love, and all that jazz, to the point where it’s unbelievable. So if you don’t want that…I’m sorry but this isn’t for you.

Now with that out of the way, let me say it again. Holy. Freaking. Hotness.

Fiona Davenport officially rocked my world with these sexy little shorts. Nic is like a wet dream written on paper (or on a screen). He’s fierce, protective, and knows what he wants. He has no problems expressing his emotions, and comes straight to Anna (Gianna) right away.

The sex scenes were delicious and enticing. I can’t say I’m surprised considering who is writing under this alias, though. 😉 I’m a huge fan of one of the author’s other work, and she didn’t let me down.

One thing I didn’t like about this book: Gianna.

Gqj8crM

I’m so sorry. I really tried to like her.

I just do not like weak females. I was expecting some Italian fierceness. I expected someone who would take on being a Mafia leader’s woman like a champ, and Gianna severely let me down.  This is just personal preference and one reason why I didn’t give it five stars. I wanted to give it five stars…I really did. But…Gianna.

I really liked the series, so much so that I finished it in less than a day (with work and everything). Short, sweet, and deliriously sexy, the Mafia Ties Box Set is the perfect read when you’re tired of the typical brooding, non-emotional Alpha male.

My #FirstLineFriday is from the third in my Wolf Creek Shifters series, which I’m currently writing!

What the hell am I doing here?
Aidan Wood swiped the sweat from his forehead for the umpteenth time that day. The California sun blazed down on him, even as he tried to find shelter from the trees surrounding the large yard. Killian’s yard. The Alpha of the Wolf Creek pack, who would probably rather eat a rotten carcass than spend time with Aidan. But Cat, Killian’s mate, had all but begged Aidan to come to their mating ceremony, even playing the “you saved my life, so you have to come” card— though he knew she wouldn’t have almost died if Aidan had stepped up and prevented it from happening.

Shifter Catrina Macintyre roamed the wilderness of Alaska as a lone wolf for six years. Imprisoned in her wolf form by a promise to her mother, she seeks the opportunity to discover the truth about her parents’ murders. When an Alpha saves her and takes her to his pack, she has to decide whether he will aide her…or destroy her.

Killian Stone is the Alpha of Wolf Creek, determined to save what the Shifter race is quick to dismiss or kill: lone-Shifters. After years of disappointment, finding Cat was a relief. That is until the intriguing and challenging she-wolf reveals that her past could put his pack in danger.

Their undeniable attraction toward each other threatens to collapse Cat’s defensive walls. She’s torn between the hope of a future, and the lingering pain of her past. The truth may be more than either of them anticipated, threatening not only Cat, but the whole Shifter race.

Will Killian convince Cat to abandon her quest for vengeance before it destroys them all?
